The Control Room

At the heart of the control room is the 48 channel Tascam DM-4800 digital console, which gives 32 outputs directly into Logic Pro 9 or Nuendo depending on preference. It has been specially acoustically treated to guarantee the ultimate performance and accuracy out of our Adam S3a main monitors to ensure the most accurate mix possible.

The processing is taken care by a G5 dual core with a 20inch monitor on the desk and 32inch on the wall it has never been easier to see what your doing.

For those Guitarists and Bassists who hate playing with headphones but who tolerate it as a necessary evil of recording - your prayers have been answered. With a link from the control room to the isolation booth so you can have your amp in the control room and cabinet in the isolation booth and monitor from the control room - headphone free just like you were playing a gig.

The Main Room

This room offers a nice warm and natural sound for any instrument. It’s big enough to record a full band at one time if required and great for a soloist. It’s the most versatile room at Blue 46.

Isolation Booth

With millisecond’s of reverb, this room is for those who are after that really tight sound - whether it be that James Brown sounding kit - to a dry Acoustic track. encased by glass, it allows perfect views of the rest of the studio and natural light in.

This is also a perfect amp room allowing complete control over the manipulation of your sound and with a speaker link to the control room only your cab need be in here allowing you the luxury only monitoring everything through the main monitors giving you that live feeling of a gig in the studio!

The Court

The Court is our biggest room at 672 sq. Ft. It is by far the biggest live room in the country for the money! It has the most incredible natural reverb making it the perfect choice for recording drums, orchestra’s, string quartet’s and of course our beautiful Baby Grand Piano.

A question asked a lot is “won’t my drums sound really 80’s rock in here” and the answer is simply not unless you want them to. We generally use AEA 84’s as room mic’s, which controls how reverb of the room is actually ends up in the final mix. Take them out of the mix and you have an ordinary tight sounding drum kit increase them in the mix and an instant Bonham sound!

Vocal Booth

Located just in front of the control room to allow for easy communication is the vocal booth. It has removable acoustic screens that gives a flexible space for a dry, natural sounding vocal.

It has a 19inch monitor which allows for lyrics to put on the screen for those who sometimes forget! All you have to do is bring you lyrics in a word document on a USB stick or CD rom.
